Mediation is a structured, voluntary process in which a neutral third party assists people engaged in a dispute to develop their own solutions. I completed mediation training in Maryland in 2015 and am now a certified mediator with Mediation Matters in Albany, NY. I bring the skills I have developed in my mediation practice into any conflict I encounter. My mediation practice has affirmed my conviction that the best solutions to any conflict are the ones that people develop for themselves.
Conflict Coaching is a process that a person involved in a dispute can engage with prior to mediation or as a substitute for mediation when other parties are unwilling or unable to mediate. I received my initial training in October 2017 and found the practice gave me new insights on the dynamics that drive many conflicts.
Restorative Reflections and Restorative Circles are two processes that help individuals or groups address a harm that has been done, including criminal conduct. At the heart of both practices is engagement--involving all parties in finding a way to make things "more right". I have led and taught others to lead Restorative Circles with teens, with adults, and with intergenerational groups.
